JUST when I was getting ready to do a long-awaited update (sorry, we're STILL settling in to new surroundings), Hurricane Katrina managed to hit.
I will get to updates as SOON as I can, and will also post an award this site received from Vickie Rene, as well. She's a sweetheart! :-)
One of the many ways I try to give back to the overall community is volunteering my skills with Emergency Services, so I may end up being called up to assist on the coast.
Unfortunately, one of my closest - and dearest friends - lived in an apartment complex right off the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi. He barely made it out with his life. He has literally lost everything, and has nothing but the clothes on his back. After spending several days, trapped in a parking lot - with no food or water - he was finally able to head north.
I JUST talked with him via cellphone, finally! He is currently STRANDED without gas on Highway 49, Northbound, about 18 miles south of Jackson, Mississppi. Right now, Sweeties, we need to get him some gas, water, and food ASAP. If YOU have ANY contacts in that area, please get in touch with me, and I will tell you exactly how to locate him. Also, if you have a PayPal, account, his address is: fantc@cableone.net. He definitely NEEDS financial assistance (even if its just a few dollars). He is a really GOOD person and has helped so many others in the past, including me. He also needs our prayers and moral support. He could barely talk to me on the phone, as he was so devastated. If you know someone who can get to him with supplies, please contact me ASAP! We need to get him back on the road and to safety.
I know he would appreciate any help. He does have an ATM card, but there is no place with electricity, allowing him to immediately access funds, but he will definitely need them. If at all possible, lets work together and (a) try to get him to safety and (b) try to help him rebuild a shattered life. To be honest, it was heart wrenching just to talk to him.
I have watched the entire story of the human pain and suffering unfold, just as you all have. I realize there are untold thousands that need our help, as well, BUT - If you can help my friend in ANY way, I would greatly appreciate it.
